A Meatless Passover?
I have been meat-free for a year and a half now, and I feel great. Every day I here more and more about the dangers of eating meat, and the torturing of the animals before they end up on your plate. What better time to become Vegetarian then Passover?
The holiday of Passover, is about the Jewish peoples struggle to break free from 400 hundred years of bondage. Jews were slaves to the Egyptions and forced to construct the pharoes empire. The Jews were beaten and tortured.
On Passover we pray for those who are opressed.
“As far as pain is concerned, there is no real distinction between the pain of humans and the pain of animals, because the love and compassion of the mother for her young is not reasoned intellectually, but has only to do with emotions and instincts, which are found among animals no less than among human beings.”
This is the time people. Time to get serious. In a time of much pain and suffering, the holiday or Passover teaches us compassion and reminds us of our time of torture and slavery. Let us treat G-ds creatures with respect.
Do you know how we get our wool? We carelessly shear it off of sheep along with there skin!
How about thinking about this fox the next time you want that warm pelt?
Try enjoying your chicken knowing what you are eating spent its life in a cage no bigger than its body, and was de-beaked with a hot blade along with part of its tongue so that it couldnt peck at other chickens.
Vegetarianism is a big change, I know. But the cruelty must stop.
After all, THEY WERE HERE FIRST!
